During sensation, the first step for some sensory systems is the accessory structures, which are saddled with the responsibility of modifying an incoming stimuli.
A sensory system refers to components of the central nervous system (CNS) which comprises of the brain, neural tissues (pathways) and sensory neurons that are responsible for sensory functions, perception and processing of sensory information such as light, sound, heat, etc.
Basically, the five (5) main sense organs in the sensory system include the following:
- Skin
- Tongue
- Ears
- Nose
- Eyes
