Before and during the start of World War I, Europe was a continent was made up of fewer states comprising mainly of the German empire, the Italian empire, Austria-Hungary, Turkey, Russia, France, Spain and the United kingdom.
However, after world war 1 and with the Central Power (consisting mainly of Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Turkey) losing the war against the Allies (mainly France, Great Britain, Russia, Italy, Japan, and the United States), the territories of Europe was shaken up resulting in many new countries such as Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Poland, etc.
Therefore, new territories and countries were created in Europe after the end of World War I.
