People often differs in the way they interprets the Constitution. One major difference between Thomas's and  Appleby's historical interpretations of influences on the Constitution is that;

  • Jefferson was known for his strict, literal view of constitutional powers. He believes that some amount of powers are kept separate for the President and Executive Branch and it does need to be singled out in the Constitution.

  • Joyce Appleby focus was more on Capitalism. She believed that capitalism was cultural instead of been an economic phenomenon.

Thomas Jefferson was known for his rigid interpretation of the U.S. Constitution when he was still serving as secretary of state for President Washington.

He believed that  it does limit government power. Jefferson and was known to have favored states' rights and a strict interpretation of the Constitution as he was of the opinion that powerful central government is of  a threat to individual liberties.
