Causal attribution theories generally try to explain how we determine the causes of the others' behavior based on personal or situational attributions.

This theory was developed by Horald Kelly in 1967, and explains how people attribute the behavior of others according to dispositional (internal) and situational (external) factors.

Dispositional factors are those based on internal characteristics, such as effort and skill. Situational factors, on the other hand, are environmental and external to the individual, such as luck and task difficulty.

Therefore, according to theory we are more likely to attribute the cause of the behavior of others to factors that most coincide with the action.
