William Tell is a Swiss character that was punished due to the fact that he refused to bow down to a tyrant. Tell was punished by asking him to shoot off an apple from his Son's head.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego

These are biblical characters that were punished in the bible and put in jail for their refusal to bow down to the King.

Similarities of the characters:

• They all refused to bow to the people that were in leadership.
• They were all punished due to their refusal.

Differences between the characters:

• William's defiance was due to his fight against tyranny while Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were disobedient for religious reasons.
• William's punishment was an almost impossible task while Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were put in jail.
