The Spanish had surrendered not long, and now they have signed the Treaty of Paris, which formally ends the war. It was signed on December 10, 1898, where US and Spanish Representatives signed it accordingly. Now, this war was rather an ironic one, due to the Spanish surrendering and giving up so quickly. Perhaps they got frightened by the Battle of San Juan Heights, in which the US Forces defeated the Spanish Army very easily. Or perhaps the reason might be the destruction of the Spanish Fleet off the coast of Santiago Bay in Cuba.
