1) You are writing an expository essay about how baseball probably evolved from the British game of "rounders." Which statement gives evidence to support the main idea?

Respuesta :

The game of baseball is said to have many origins, each evolving the sport a bit more, however, many argue that the greatest inspiration comes from the British game of "Rounders" due to the striking similarities in the rules and gameplay.

Rounders is a British game that is still played in some locations. It is a game that has been played since Tudor times, as early as 1744. Much like in baseball, the game involves hitting a leather-encased ball which is pitched at the batter, with a rounded end bat, often made from wood or metal. The batter must then run a circuit around 3 bases located at the first, second, and third base positions, in a counter clock-wise direction, and reach the starting location to score a point.

This along with the remaining rules make the game almost identical to baseball. Furthermore, this game is much older than any first mention of baseball which provides a strong case for it being the precursor to the game. The British story-book "A Little Pretty Pocket-Book" references the game, and later refers to the game as base-ball. These are all examples of strong evidence indicating the origin of baseball from Rounders.

Though I could not locate the options online, I have provided general use evidence that supports the theory that Baseball originated from the British game of "Rounders".
