The steam engine provieded the Americans with faster travel time improving the speed at which goods could be transported. This made goods able to be sent around the country, allowing for mass production to begin.
Steam engines gave power to bigger machines in the factories. Before the steam engine, the water of the river circulating in wheels powered the factories but with the steam engine, factories didn’t have to be near bodies of water.
