What are the x and y values here and how do you know? I would like this knowledge

A newspaper reports the following changes in the temperature of a city over 4 days:
2.64 degrees Celsius, negative 2 over 9 degrees Celsius, −0.35 degrees Celsius, 5 over 8 degrees Celsius

Write an expression to show the average daily change in the temperature of the city.

Write the steps to solve the expression. Round your answer to the nearest hundredth.

Answer:

average change ≈ .94

equation: read explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

to find the rate of change, im going to first convert every variable into a decimal, to make things simpler

-2/9 is equal to -0.22 repeating, but we are instructed to round to a hundredth so it stays as 0.22

5/8 is equal to 0.625

so, our sequence is simplified to 2.64, -0.22, -0.35, 0.625

now to find the difference between each term by simply subtracting abs val

2.64-0.22=2.42

0.35-0.22=0.13

0.625-0.35=0.275

the mean or average of these 3 numbers is 0.94166666...

rounded to the nearest hundredth, i got .94

putting this in an expression would look like

(2.42+0.13+0.275)/3

or

[(2.64-0.22)+(-0.22-0.35)+(0.625-0.35)]/4

im not sure if this is what youre looking for but this is the best i can do. i dont know what x or y would be or why i would need them but if you send me an image of the problem in full context i might be able to do better

.94 - is you’re answer hope that helps you
