there are three types translation, rotation, and reflections.
a translation is moving something left or right up or down on a graph
rotation is rotating something in different degrees.
relections are reflecting something by the x or y axis
a life problem would be like if the car was moved left 3 inches it would be parked perfectly

In mathematics, 'transforming' an object mean that you change its appearance.This can be done in four ways .Any figure can be Rotated ,Reflected or Translated from its original place to get a transformed figure. After these transformations, the shape will still have exactly the same size, area, angle sizes and line lengths.
The original shape is called 'object' and the transformed shape is called the 'image'. The transformed image will be 'congruent' to the original object. It can change its size so we can say transformed images are similar.
The reflection of mountain in a lake is an example of reflection.Transformations produce similar figures which helps us find width of river in our daily life.
