The medieval anatomist Mondino de’ Liuzzi is known as the “Restorer of Anatomy” and considered the first to perform a dissection, document it, and publish his findings. Anathomia (Anatomy) is his fundamental text, contained the collected experiences from the ancient anatomists. It is also contained de’ Liuzzi’s first-hand account of his own experiences with dissection. His fundamental texts "Anathomia" used by Leonardo da Vinci (1452–1518) to learn about the human body for his work both as artist and scientist.
