Let x=the number of miles in the taxi ride

4.74x - 1.20 = 48.70

add the 1.20 to itself and the 48.70 since the 48.70 isnt including the pick up fee.

4.74x = 49.90

divide both sides bt 4.74

x = 49.90/4.74 = 10.5274261... ≈ 11 miles.
