Ptolemy believed that the Earth was motionless and occupied the center of the universe, and that the Sun, the Moon, the planets and the stars revolved around him.

Copernicus said that the center of the universe is close to the Sun.  And orbiting the Sun, in order, are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Moon, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn (Uranus and Neptune were not yet known).

The answer is: C. The model developed by Copernicus was simpler and had fewer inconsistencies than the Ptolemy model.
