You are given the logarithmic function [tex]f(x)=\log_bx.[/tex] Note that this function is defined when:

  1. [tex]b>0,\ b\neq 1;[/tex]
  2. [tex]x>0.[/tex]

This function is increasing, when [tex]b>1[/tex] and decreasing when [tex]0<b<1[/tex] (see attached graphs for details).

Answer: [tex]0<b<1.[/tex]
