According to the reciprocal definition in math, the reciprocal of a number is defined as the expression which when multiplied by the number gives the product as 1. In other words, when the product of two numbers is 1, they are said to be reciprocals of each other. The reciprocal of a number is also defined as the division of 1 by that number.
The multiplicative inverse is a commonly-used reciprocal synonym. You may come across this term in the future. They mean the same.

This took a while to figure out but hope I helped :)

Explanation: It’s basically like if you had a number x and you want to get it’s reciprocal then you make it into 1/x (You can also put it as x^-1). That’s also the same as saying that you’re going to divide 1 by the number. Raising any quantity of number to the power of -1 is the same as getting its reciprocal. Another way to say of solving to get a numbers reciprocal is the same as multiplicative inverse then it’d be like x/y to y/x (That is taking the reciprocal of a fraction). In the end, taking a reciprocal fraction wise is just switching the numerator and denominator.

I hope this was a good explanation..
