Erma, a 68-year-old female with a history of Type Il diabetes, presents to the ER with a
fever and a feeling of malaise. A physical exam reveals a large area on her lower right
leg that is red, warm to the touch, swollen and very painful upon palpation. The skin is
covered in blisters and is tight and glossy in appearance with red streaking superior to
the site.
