Respuesta :
In order to test the effects of the antiseptic solution on bacterial growth, the student can perform an experiment, while respecting the distinct variable types.
In order for the student to perform an experiment to test his hypothesis, he will have to identify three variables:
- Dependent variable
- Independent variable
- Control variable
In this experiment, the dependent variable will be bacterial growth for each of the three agar plates, given that this is the variable we are measuring for the experiment. As per this variable, the student will have to take precise data measures to compare later.
The independent variable in this experiment will be the three Antiseptic solutions. The student should take special care to be aware of what solution is being applied to which plate, as well as to make sure that the time and amount of solution applied are consistent between all three of the plates.
Finally, the Control variable will be the strain of bacteria used. The student must be sure to use the exact same strain of bacteria for each plate. This is of special importance given that each bacteria will have different levels of antibiotic resistance and can therefore impact the results.
In order to test the effects of the antiseptic solution on bacterial growth, the student can perform an experiment, while respecting the distinct variable types, for which he will need three agar plates, the three solutions to be tested, and take detailed measurements of bacterial growth.
