Lyric poetry consists on a type of poetry in which a single speaker expresses deep personal emotions and feelings. Lyric poetry tends to be musical and rhythmic, and it was originally written to accompany the lyre (a Greek musical instrument). In addition to this, lyric poetry belongs to the three main categories of poetry, the other ones being dramatic and epic.
