Imagine your class is going to put together a class party. Together, you need to decide how to raise funds, what food to get, how to decorate the classroom, what music to play, and so on. You can either have every student in class vote on each of these decisions (as in a democracy), or elect a Party Planning Committee, which would be a few student representatives who would make all the decisions for the rest of the class (like in a republic). Which method would you prefer and why?
