Chimpanzees and bonobos are the two species that closely related to humans.

The fossil record shows that the DNA of human and ape are closely related to each other which indicates that about 6 million years ago humans shared a common ancestor with the Great apes such as chimpanzees and bonobos.

Human DNA is similar to chimpanzee DNA about 98.6%. Both are also similar in physical makeup and intelligence. The main difference between human and chimpanzee is that the chimpanzee walks on four limbs and they can't swim whereas humans walk on two limbs and can swim so we can conclude that the chimpanzee and bonobos resembles to human to a great extent.
