  • Doodle's brother even went so far as to wish Doodle would die, as it would be better not to have a brother than to have an unavailable brother.
  • Doodle, performs better and learns to walk and do activities faster as he grows.
  • Contrary to what doctors thought, Doodle began to grow and develop, even with limitations, which made the whole family happy.
  • Doodle's brother started playing with him and teaching him things.
  • The two brothers saw a Scarlet Ibis fall dead on top of a tree, leaving it bloodied. This was an omen for Doodle's death.
  • Doodle dies after being pressed to run.

With this, we can see that the author uses the fall of Scarlet Ibis on the tree in the narrator's backyard as an premonition to death. We can also conclude how the author uses this story to show that we shouldn't force people to live up to our expectations.
