Limited government is when the power that the government has is limited. The rights of individuals is being focused on in a limited government.

• The Enlightenment, was a movement that advocated the liberty, tolerance and a limited government. Individuals were allowed to have control and freedom over their resources.

• The Glorious Revolution brought about a scenario whereby the power of the king was limited and there were also protections for the English subjects.

• Salutary neglect contributed to the American Revolutionary War. This also led to the limited power of the imperial authority.
