During the Obama Administration, a significant step was taken by the administration in order to prepare critical technology and infrastructure in order to curtail the risk of the space weather.

• Space weather simply means the effects that emissions from the sun, have on the space environment. Space weather can have a negative impact on the infrastructures that are essential to the economy like water supply, electrical power, transportation, health care, etc.

• Space weather is a concern now due to the fact that the modern technology depends on signals and these are vulnerable and can be affected by space weather. The Executive Order was put in place to help in the reduction of economic loss and saving of lives of the people.

• The policy of the government matches it actions. In order to support the space weather research, it should be noted that National Aeronautics and Space Administration[NASA] keeps an eye and observes the space environment often by using solar observatories and studying the solar atmosphere, magnetic fields etc. and other bodies that surround the Earth.
