The 95 theses were written by Martin Luther. He was angry at the church and wanted it to reform. So, he wrote 95 grievances he had with the church. They mainly centered on the fact that a person's afterlife was based solely on their deeds. The Church was against Luther as he discredited them and pointed out flaws in the ways they profited. They forbid the printing of the 95 theses and threaten to excommunicate Martin Luther.
