In FEOTAL DEVELOPMENT, there are various changes which occurs Both in the foetus and the mother. These changes are broadly grouped into three stages which includes:
--> First trimester: This stage starts from conception to 12 weeks. This stage in pregnancy involves the following changes in the foetus which is called an embryo at this stage:
• the major organ systems which includes the digestive system, the heart and circulatory system begins to develop
• facial features starts to develop.
• fetus begins rhythmic breathing movements at 10th week of this stage and continues through out the gestation period.

• By the end of this stage baby's arms, hands, fingers, feet and toes are fully formed.
--> SECOND TRIMESTER: This stage starts from 13th week through 28th weeks of pregnancy. It involves the following changes:
• the heartbeat is now audible and this can be detected using the instrument called doppler.
• Your baby is covered by fine, feathery hair called lanugo and a waxy protective coating called vernix. Eyebrows, eyelashes, fingernails, and toenails have formed.
• the finger and toes are well defined with the prints visible enough.
--> Third trimester: This lasts from 29th week to due date which is usually at 40th week. The following changes occurs
• the brain continues to develop rapidly so that it can blink, close the eyes, turn the head, grasp firmly, and respond to sounds, light, and touch.
• it continues to develop reserves of body fat which will help out in early days after birth.
