Teenagers are at the age where they're highly developed and understand the idea of marriage, relationships etc. better than children. Firstly, I think children under five take divorce slightly because they are not all aware of the mother-father situation and they do not take it seriously. The most important for them at that age is to play and be children. Secondly, school aged take divorce a little bit more serious and they start to understand that parents are separated for a reason and they start asking questions all the time so, you as a parent need to be really smart on your answers so it does not affect your child's feelings and the family environment and lastly, teenagers take divorce more aggressively because at that age they already know many things and they do not take it very well as in the other ages. For example, at this age if your parents get divorced, most teenagers find peace and calm on their friends and the world around them but not the family, they become rebellious and they believe they have the world in their hands so, I think it is a bad idea to get a divorce when your children become teenagers.
