In mice, there is a dominant gene, Y, that produces gray fur color called agouti. In a series of crosses, a heterozygous mice (Yy) were crossed with heterozygous female mice (Yy) to produce a total of 380 offspring. Among the offspring 228 had yellow fur and 152 has gray (agouti) fur. If the inheritance of yellow fur is a standard 3-to-1 ratio, how many baby mice would you expect to be yellow?

Answer:

228

Explanation:

cus it say Among the offspring 228 had yellow fur and 152 has gray so 228 offspring had yellow fur.

You would really only expect 95 as the standard 3:1 ratio means you multiply the total number of offspring by 1/4 or .25. 380x0.25=95. This is obviously expected as yellow fur is a recessive trait, however in the problem there is more yellow fur babies than gray fur. But this is still possible just really REALLY rare.
