An equation will have infinite solutions if the variable cancels out in the solving process AND whats left holds True.
Example:
3x + 5 = 4x -(x-5)
After simplifying:
3x+5 = 3x +5
Subtract 3x from both sides
5 = 5
This is True so there are infinite solutions, meaning any possible number for "x" will still make the equation True.
