As carbon dioxide concentrations in Earth’s atmosphere rise, ocean water absorbs carbon dioxide and becomes more acidic. This process is called ocean acidification. The increase in hydrogen ions in the ocean will corrode the coral reef, making it inhabitable for species. This will affect the crabs that get their food and the community that lives within in it.
