The oldest known religion is Hinduism, as such polytheistic, with the influences of ancient Dravidian teachings. Hinduism believes in many gods, then in karma and reincarnation. In Hinduism, there are priests, and generally Hinduism belongs to a group of Hindu-European religions that advocate the principle of cycles, that is, the cycle between life and death until final liberation. During the repetition of the cycle of life and death, souls experience reincarnation.

Buddhism originated as a derivative of Hinduism and the basic principles are the rejection of priests as unnecessary, as well as the rejection of rituals and all the features that contain rules. Buddhism believes in achieving perfection in the form of enlightenment through meditation. Buddhism as well as Hinduism believes in reincarnation and karma.

Judaism and Christianity are monotheistic religions, meaning preaching and believing in one god, and with different concepts the personality of God. Judaism does not recognize Christ as the Messiah, that is, the Son of God, while Christians believe that Christ is the incarnation of God in the flesh, that is, the Son of God as one of the personalities of the Holy Trinity. In Judaism, lasting values would be a moral life in accordance with the Ten Commandments and God's rules, that is, morality, ethics, social justice applied to all, mercy, assistance to people in need, assistance to travelers, etc. In Christianity, all this is the same, with Christians believing in salvation through the incarnate God of Christ and the fulfillment of all Old Testament laws, as principles of morality, ethics, etc.

Each of these religions can be said to have some, if not all, of the universal values of humanity.
