How are Ralph and Piggy described in the 1st chapter?

In the first chapter, Ralph is quite dismissive of Piggy. Piggy is fat and talks too much. Ralph only acknowledges Piggy when he says something that mildly interests him. Piggy desperately wants to be friends with Ralph or at least sound worthy of importance.
