Determine how many plain servings of each food group you ate yesterday. Start by listing all what you had for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. Don't forget to include what you drank as well. Then break down each food you ate into food groups. For instance, if you ate a slice of pepperoni pizza, you could count the crust as grain, the cheese as dairy, and the pepperoni as meat. Use the chart below to indicate the number of servings you had in each of the food groups. Remember to find more detailed information on My Plate go to Choose My Plate and click on the My Plate tab at the top of the home page, this action will bring up a menu of all five food groups and oils. You can then choose one of the food groups and you will have a menu to choose from to assist you. One of the choices is "How much is needed?" and if you click on that option and then choose "see the chart", it will provide you with detailed information on how much is needed for your gender and age group.
