The Articles of confederation was the first writing constitution of the united states .The articles was adopted in November 15, 1777.The main reason for the articles of confederation was to connect the colonies as one, it was not a well planned process . The article of confederation was ratified on march 1, 1781 which was very expect to happen , the reason for this was that the articles created a loose confederation of sovereign states and a weak central government, leaving most power to the state government. This caused the central government lacking the ablilty to levy taxes and regulate commerce, issues that led to the constitutional convention in 1787 for the creation of new federal laws.
