So ok, let me give you a reminder on what these functions are.

So, a linear function is quite literally a strait line. Basically, the values of x and y are being added and subtracted by a ever-constant value.

Next is a quadratic function, which basically a u or upside-down u. The numbers increase, and then decrease, or vise versa. You can think of it like a bird flying up to the clouds, and then gliding back down.

Finally we have exponential functions. Which is a function that gets very, very high. This is because the number is squared over and over again. The bigger the x or y value gets, the bigger it will be next time its squared.

Just for a visual, I took some photos of the different types of functions.

Now, lets get into the problem.

For the first problem:

X is increasing by 1.

Y is increasing by....Lets see.

So it seems y is getting diving by 2 each time the x increases by 1.

We can see that the x is changing by 1, while the y changes by a odd and not always the same amount. This istantly means that it cannot be linear. It could be exponential, but if you look closly, you can see that at the end, the values start to decrease. Remember what I said about quadratic function? Then this must be a quadratic function!

That sums up our second function, lets look at our third.

The x is increasing by 1, and the y values are increasing by 6.

Hmm, it seems like each time x increases by 1, y increases by 6. This means it must be a linear function! After all, linear functions increase by a constant amount.
