let be A(xA, yA) a point in y = -2x + 6 , and B (xB yB) for y = -2x - 4
so D= sqrt( ( 
xA-xB)²  + (yA-yB)²)
let A (0,6) and B(1. -6)
so the distance is   D = sqrt (1+144)=12.04
