Benefits: They take place in the natural world, observing the real world gives you more typical results, they can apply to real life, and a question instead of a hypothesis sparks the investigation.
Limitations: They are limited to only data collection, there is no control over the environment, a experiment may be needed if the investigation isn’t enough, and more questions can arise.
Experiment:
Benefits: It can prove or reject a hypothesis, cause-and-effect relationships can be shown, they are done in labs in a controlled setting, and they can be repeated.
Limitations: Experiments are limited on the independent variable you are getting data on, more questions than answers can arise, you may have to do more than one experiment, and experiments in labs are not always lifelike situations.
