The correct answer to this open question is the following.
Has the power of the President of the United States as Commander-in-Chief exceeded constitutional boundaries and should those powers be curtailed, given the constant state of war we find ourselves in? Or should the President's military powers continue to expand to address the growing chaos in our world, despite the Constitution or in congruence with the Constitution?
What I think is that the Constitutional powers of the US President as the commander-in-chief have to stay the way they are established in the Constitution. The issue here is a moral dilemma for the President in today's world.
It is clear that the United States is not the sole or only powerful nation in the world. China is as powerful as the United States, economically and military. Germany is a powerful nation. Russia, in the military, is as powerful as the US. With these factors into consideration comes the second idea. Nobody and no country have given the United States the right to intervene in their political and economic life. And that is precisely one of the biggest problems the world has with the US. Its desire to be the protector of the world in a time when nobody is asking the US to play this role.
Today, teh United States has so many internal problems that need to be promptly solved instead of trying to intervene in teh affairs of other nations.
So, the powers of the US President are exactly right as the Constitution has established since its conception in 1787. The issue here is that the President should act in a more responsible way to know what is correct and feasible for the country, prioritizing the needs and concerns of the American citizens in the US.
