Joseph McCarthy proved to be one of America's most respected and feared senators. His over-ambitious attitude seemed to highlight the mindset of the American people during the Red Scare. He tried to develop some form of fear into each American's heart so that they would be aware of a "takeover" from the Communists. He was very manipulative and used events happening in America to arouse American support. The age of "McCarthyism" began long before McCarthy's involvement.
