our n will be 5-1 =4

and with the first term of 17 with the common ration of 3.1 our 5th sequence term will be 
17(3.1^4) = 1570

a 1 = 17
r = 3.1
a n = a 1 * r^(n-1)
a 5 = a 1 * r^4
