The civil rights movement was a decades long campaign that black people and their allies held to end racial discrimination and segregation. The Black Lives Matter movement is to remind people of the message.

The difference between the Civil Rights Act and BLM is that the Civil Right Act was decades long and the people participating in these movements were mostly non-violent even though the government was harsh and over reacted
