The independent variable would be the part of the experiment she changed (the laundry detergent), and the dependent variable is the part she kept the same (the cloth). 

She should keep the cloth type, amount of detergent, amount of mustard, and containers for washing the same, because keeping everything else the same is the only way to really know the effects of the independent variable (the type of laundry detergent)
