In Spain and in many Hispanic American countries, cycling is more than just a sport - it is a passion. In Colombia, for example, every year more than sixty cyclists participate in a race, the Return to Colombia, which lasts. The winner is a national hero and receives lots of money and gifts.
Here you have an interview with a young man named Victor Veloz, a very popular cyclists:
The Interviewer: Good morning, Victor. We would like to know how a champion lives. Could you describe a typical day of your life?
Victor: Of course. Normally I wake up very early, at five in the morning.
The Interviewer: And what do you do to start your day?
Victor: After waking up, I wash my face and hands, I shave and brush my teeth.
The Interviewer: Yes, Yes, I understand. We all do these things. But, what do you do to take an advantage to all the other cyclists, to be champion?
Victor: I eat a light breakfast. I get dressed, I put on my shoes, I brush my hair and go out to train for two or three hours. Then, I return home, bathe myself and eat lunch. Then after lunch, which is very big, I lay down and rest for a bit.
The Interviewer: And then, what do you do in the afternoon?
Victor: I do exercises and go on my bike for two or three more hours. I eat at seven thirty and I go to sleep before ten. I need a lot of rest. Normally I don't go out by night.
The Interviewer: Very interesting. Then, you don't do anything very exceptional. All the young men have the same opportunity to make themselves champions if theu wanted to.
Victor: It's true.
The Interviewer: By the way, do you have a very pretty bike. How much does it cost?
Victor: Ten thousand dollars.
