Young animals do not reach the reproductive stage, and reproductive females can not release eggs.  This causes important damage to the reproductive rate of the species. Also, when overexploiting, many other unwanted species get caught and die on the nets. Accessory capture is the cause of death of many invertebrates, fishes, and marine mammals die because of the fisheries nets.
