The Texas Revolution started in October 1835 and ended in April 1836 with a victory of Texans over the Mexican army. The Texans won the famous Battle of San Jacinto, close to Galveston, Texas and that is why they won the War. Mexican President Antonio López de Santana had to recognize the loss.
