active reading involves a process in which a person engages intellectually with the text. it requires focusing on the material by hightailing imp passages making notes in margin and regularly asking questions from your self related to the text. brain storming and etc.

I'm an active reader so I know what it means. For me I stay reading actively by doing it in areas where its quiet. I also read every where I go, even if its in a noisy area I use headphones. Yes thats still noise but it helps me.

Reading  actively is different for different people. You read actively depending on how you concentrate.
