What does ration cards mean (for ww2)? Like what were they used for? Who were they used for?

Hi! By definition, ration cards are cards issued by a government to allow the holder (person who recieves it) to obtain food or other commodities (things like fabrics, shoes, etc...) that are in short supply during wartime or in other emergency situations when rationing is in force.
