Code of the Hammurabi is the oldest known comprehensive form of written law in the world, it's EXTREMELY strict and punished unequally depending on social class and gender, lucky for us it's not still used today, however unfortunately one can argue that the culture it promoted (especially gender based) is still practiced in the middle East today.
