In year 1956, President of United States, Dwight Eisenhower signed a Federal-Aid highway act which created a 41000 mile national system which was of interstate and defense highway. According to the president, He brought this act because according to him this act will eliminate unsafe roads as well as routes which were insufficient and traffic jams and whatever things which got on the was of of speedy yet safe travel. During that period of time, Highway advocates were of the argument that if an atomic attack took place in the key cities of United States then these roads will permit quick and speedy evacuation of people to the target areas and further stated that this act was necessary for nation’s interest. This highway act brought the emergence of cars as main mode of transportation in United States and because of this act, the roads became safer and broad and highways were of no faulty roads and this further accelerated the car manufacturing industry because the demands for cars grew in American Market.
