It had a significant effect on Native Americans. The Spanish set up missionaries that forced the Natives to abandon their language and culture, and adopt the language and culture of the Spanish.
Answer:
The Spanish colonization brought the transformation and destructuring of the world of Native American communities. This means that the millennial forms of life and the historical processes of all these Peoples, cultures and great civilizations were interrupted.
Their forms of social organization, their economies, and their cosmologies were threatened as they had to adapt to the life forms imposed by the colonizers. The native communities were forced to work in plantations and mines and were treated inhumanly. In many places, the Spaniards were well received as they were thought to be sent from the gods. However, native communities very quickly realized their true intentions due to their greed. In that moment, many communities and groups that did not have warrior customs, armed real armies to defend their territories. Large divisions were seen among native populations as some collaborated with the Spanish.
These wars killed many people and the native communities were markedly diminished. Another fact that affected the native communities was the presence of new diseases for which there were no defenses. It is said that diseases were another European weapon of war.
