Amanda Gorman is just 22 years-old but this week she read her poem at the presidential innuaguration! Gorman was born in 1998 in Los Angeles. She describes herself as a "weird child" who liked to read and write. In 2013 she became a United Nations delegate after she watched a speech by another famous young woman named Malal Yousafzai. In 2015 she published a book of poetry "The One for Whom Food Is Not Enough".


Gorman went to Harvard University and while she was there she became the first person to be named National Youth Poet Laureate in April 2017. Keep your eye out for Gorman because she says she will run for president in 2036!
